Resident Artist Benjamin Martin has created a project which aims to give writers the chance to workshop their ideas and have a platform to share them on. Submitted works will not only be published on the First Floor Space blog, but also will be considered for publishing by The Croydonist, a local Croydon online publication.

Benjamin is an MFA graduate of Wimbledon College of Art. His work spans sculpture, installation, painting, drawing and text. You can find his work on Instagram

The written word can be an expressive creative tool, it can open up new and exciting pathways that can lead us to a better understanding of ourselves and of the world around us. There are many different forms the written word can take, and each person has the ability to use their own individual style to create something which can change perspectives, reveal emotions, evoke feelings, create alternate worlds, or challenge the status quo.

How the project works

Your submission can be any form of written word, up to 1000 words. If you want to submit extracts of longer texts, you can do so within the word count limit.

You can also head over to The Croydonist website where you'll find lots of amazing writing for inspiration.
